Cleaning the slate

Coach Mariqi Erasmus.

I changed my name from Marietjie to Mariqi the moment I took charge of my life. My new life. Think about ways you want to mould a wonderful new you.

How would you care for yourself if you could be “re-born” today? How would you mould your way of thinking, the way you live, exercise, walk and talk?

Let’s play a life game. Allow yourself to be reborn in your mind. You are in charge. Only you. Now it is up to you which kind of person you are going to create. Give yourself a new name. I changed my name from Marietjie to Mariqi the moment I took charge of my life. My new life. Today… just appreciate your wonderful body… the fact that you can breathe, think and make decisions. Think about ways you want to mould this wonderful new you. Without negativity, guilt feelings and judgement. A free, pure, wonderful being. Until next time.

Faith, not fear

Exhilaration, by Mariqi Erasmus.

I believe everyone is born an artist but what happens to the freedom we are born with? If we were born to be successful why do we cling to fear?

I believe everyone is born an artist. Free, and with a vivid imagination to create anything. Sadly from round about preschool-age we get caught up in the “sausage machine” of life. Art teachers instruct us not to cross the lines. Even colouring must be neat and perfect. Trees are brown and green, houses have red roofs and the sun is yellow. What happens to the freedom you were born with?

In my career as a life coach and art teacher I see people with great talent but no consistent confidence. Is that only a lack of knowledge and technique or should we look at the core? The killer of all passion… fear?

The opposite of fear is faith. To have faith in your abilities you have to condition yourself from the outset. You were born to be a success. Consider this and recognise the reasons why you fear the obstacles that are created in your own mind. And then: decide. Until next time

Reasons for playing digital

Johan Erasmus, Musical Director of the Arte Muzik Ensemble.

Some people are not easily convinced that digital pianos are worth the investment. Although they can never replace authentic, acoustic pianos there are many advantages to playing in the key of digital.

In my experience throughout 49 years in the music business, I found that some people are not easily convinced that digital pianos are worth the investment. We all know that nothing can replace the acoustic piano, because of the aesthetic value of the wooden cabinet, but these instruments are near-unaffordable nowadays.

Digital pianos never need tuning  because it they have no strings that can stretch. The action for producing sound is referred to as  “graded hammer action” which is the same action of an acoustic- or grand piano. Digital pianos are always pitch perfect.

Furthermore, digital pianos do not need to be serviced, as their acoustic counterparts do, and offer many features not available on an acoustic piano. The main advantage, though, is the price of a digital piano: easily less than a third of the price tag on an acoustic piano. All you need is a mind shift.

The woman in the mirror

Mariqi Erasmus.

I wholeheartedly wish that I could speak to her. I want to look her in the eye and say: “let me help you”. I dare not.

I see her walking in the mall. Her beautiful face is clouded by a deep sadness in her eyes. She avoids eye contact. She notices me but quickly looks down: the floor tiles have her complete attention. I wholeheartedly wish that I could speak to her. I want to look her in the eye and say: “let me help you”. I dare not. This would be unethical and could make her feel even worse about herself.

What is she feeling? Anger, frustration, guilt, dissatisfaction, fatigue, sickness? Her knees are aching and her large thighs make walking difficult. The reason? She is over-weight and has been so for a few years. She has followed many different diets: quick-fix solutions. Up and down the scale. She is tired of living on boiled eggs and salad alone. She is yearning for a large, delicious piece of cake.

She is forced to consider a larger dress size for the upcoming Christmas Season. Maybe this would make her look more attractive. In the fitting room mirror she looks herself in the eye. Beautiful eyes. Eyes that used to laugh at the world and are still trying to but, instead, are looking inside and are screaming: “I hate myself for what I have become!”. Eyes that reflect: “I feel powerless, I have given up on myself, I look like a circus tent!”.

Could this be you? I dare you to take a last chance… contact me. Just sign up for three months at a time. Let me walk with you day by day. Should you, after three months, feel that you do not experience a drastic difference I will refund you. This is how much faith I have in my coaching. Read my link, view the videos and get in touch to find out if you qualify. Even consider signing up a friend to join you for three months (at R2 900-00 per person, for three months) and receive R1 000-00 in cash from me.

This could be your chance to regain your health, energy and zest for life. Rediscover your lean, fit and strong body. Manage asthma, high blood pressure and cholesterol. What qualifies me to share this information with you? I used to be that unhappy lady in the mall. Not long ago.
